Lead Teacher Bios
Blue - Rachel King (Toddler-2 year olds):
“I have been at Tots and Tales for over 6 years. During that time I was Lead Teacher in the 1 year old classroom before moving to the Toddler room. I love working with the Toddlers! Their enthusiasm and spunk gets me through the day with a smile. Their determination to be potty trained is amazing. As an Assistant Teacher in the Blue Room, I learned that consistency and positive reinforcement is the key to success. I have used these tools to benefit the flow of the classroom since I was promoted to Lead Teacher in 2009.”
Green - Saundra Kennedy (Preschool age):
“As one of the co-founders of Tots N Tales Montessori School, teaching is my passion. Hands on learning and practical life applications teach children various tools for all aspects in life. Providing a nurturing, educational environment is so very important to me. Every child is special-finding that ‘just right’ way to teach each child how special they are, is a wonderful challenge that I endure whole-heartedly each and every day!”
Orange - Spring Break and Summer Schedule and Teachers TBA
Red - Ms. Phyllis (1 year olds):
“I have worked at Tots N Tales for 17 years and LOVE working with children. Recently, I moved from the Toddler classroom where I was nicknamed by parents the “potty training guru” to the Pre-K classroom. It is fun working with a different age group. All children are so fascinating and teach me things each day too! I have been married for 38 years and have 3 beautiful daughters, great sons-in-law and 5 wonderful grandchildren. My husband and I enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren and enjoy riding our Harley in our spare time. My philosophy on children is love, laugh and learn—and most of all LOTS OF PATIENCE!”
Rose - Lead Co-Teachers Stacee Bayha and Ashley Walters (1 year olds):
Ms. Stacee rejoined Tots and Tales in March 2009. She is actively going to school for Elementary Education and took some time off between her original start date with Tots and Tales in 2007 and her return date in 2009. Stacee and her husband are the proud parents of 2 beautiful children. Ms. Ashley joined Tots and Tales in February 2009. During her time here, she has enjoyed the 1 year old classroom. She and her husband are proud parents of two active young boys. With the efforts of both Ms. Stacee and Ms. Ashley, these 1 year olds are learning as much as they can during this time in their lives!
Pink - Shelly Wade (1 year olds):
“I have been with Tots N Tales for 9 years. I believe the only way children learn is through repetition. You have to be consistent with everything you do. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my children, family and friends, Scrap booking and doing different arts and crafts are another favorite thing I like to do”.
Purple - Lee Turner (Preschool age):
“I have been employed at Tots N Tales since 1995. I am married and have 1 daughter. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I believe that every child should have a kind, caring and loving teacher. A teacher should stimulate the minds of the children through play and learning. We should be a good role model in all aspects of the classroom. We should teach children good communication through open ended conversations. Teachers need to allow children to explore in their classroom and allow a child to make his/her own mistakes. I believe that teachers need to find each child’s own learning style and help them learn in the way that is best for them. I believe that you need to have diversity in your classroom, and bring each child’s culture into your classroom. This will help the children feel more welcome, safe and secure. Most of all, I think that you need to teach each child that they are special in their own way and that they are loved!”
Silver- Mary McKenzie (Preschool age):
”I have been at Tots N Tales for 20 years. I like to garden and collect teddy bears. I think the Montessori teaching is great because it allows children hands on learning. Not only to teach, but to show that each and every child is special.”
Yellow- Shari Stark (Pre-K and Kindergarten):
“I have been at Tots N Tales for 12 wonderful years. My hobby is spoiling my grandchildren. My philosophy on children is love, patience and consistency.”
